Mr J Keay (known to his friends as Roger) was surprised and pleased when his unique lottery number was drawn for the top prize last month!
Roger has been aware of Treetops Hospice Care for a while and has donated to the shop on Bramcote Lane. When the canvassers approached him, he thought it was a great idea to support such a good cause while having a little flutter.
When asked how he would spend his winnings, Mr Keay said “I have two daughters and three grandchildren so I will probably spend some on them. I would also like to give some back to Treetops Hospice Care. What’s left will probably be spent on my holidays in Cornwall this year”.
Congratulations Roger and enjoy your winnings!
Our 1st prize Super Draw winner was Tracey from Mickleover, Derby and she was very, very surprised! She says “I haven’t ever won anything before so it was a lovely feeling to be told I had won the Super Draw”.
Tracey supports the Treetops Lottery because her Father in Law was cared for in a hospice – “We saw what a valuable, dignified and caring service hospices provide at the end of life, and all on charitable donations. When we got the chance to take part in the Treetops Lottery, we thought it was a great way to contribute”. They will be using some of the money to pay for a puppy for the family. Something they can all enjoy for many years to come!
The £1,000 first prize winner on Friday 15 March was Mrs Percival from Wysall, Nottingham. Emma has been aware of Treetops for some time, through her work at A. W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service. She has visited the hospice on a number of occasions and says she is extremely impressed with the facilities it offers and the enthusiasm of its staff and volunteers. she said. “It really is obvious that the hospice lives up to its claim ‘where every day counts’”
She signed up to the Treetops Lottery when she was approached at the Beeston Carnival last year. She told us “I felt this was an easy way of me to give to an amazing charity on a regular basis and signed up on the spot, the gentleman then suggested two numbers would be better than one and I am most grateful that he did!"
"When I found out I had won, it was such a nice feeling. It would be great to give some of my winnings to the charity I was supporting at the Beeston Carnival the day I signed up. For the rest of the winnings, my husband is keen to get a football season ticket for the family. We are also going on holiday later this year so anything left will be spent on that.”
On 18 January 2019, one lucky winner from Ockbrook had a £5,000 cheque delivered to their door.
How did you feel when you won?
It was a complete surprise to have won. Until your knock on the door I had no idea.
What were your Initial thoughts? Wow, I was shocked and it took some time to take it in.
How did you fee afterwards? Still thinking about the afterwards, have never won a prize! We are still smiling.
How would you like to spend your winnings?
We are planning a trip to Australia to see our grandchildren. So thank you Treetops.
Why do you play Treetops Lottery?
I have never really thought about winning Treetops lottery, I donate each month to support the Hospice and recognise all the hard work involved in the charity and will continue to do so.
Mrs Eileen Thorne of Stanton-by-Dale has been a member of the Treetops Lottery since 1996 and on Friday 18 January she finally scooped the first prize of £1,000 in the weekly draw.
"I couldn't believe it when you called to say I had won! I kept thinking it was a mistake. The only other time we can remember winning anything was when we won some eggs during the war".
Mrs Thorne is a great supporter of Treetops Hospice, among other charities and both her and her husband were volunteers at the Hospice for about 10 years.
She has not decided what to spend the winnings on as it still hasn't quite sunk in.
Treetops Lottery was delighted to present Mrs Christine Porter with a cheque for £10,000 when she won the jackpot rollover prize.
Christine, 47, from Long Eaton only started playing the Treetops Lottery earlier this year as she explained:
“I joined up in February this year, so only a few months ago really. I was in my local GP practice and the Treetops Lottery lady stopped me. I was aware of Treetops before but never had any family or friends come here. I thought a pound a week was fine, it’s great cause, so let’s do it. When I pledged my weekly money, I never in a million years thought I’d win it and when I got the call from Treetops I just couldn’t believe it. It’s fabulous!”
Christine has never won anything previously:
“I never, ever expected to win anything but I bought some extra tickets for the rollover week online - I just thought let’s go for it and never thought anything more of it. It was very easy! When I heard, I rang my husband straight away and said you’ll never, ever believe what’s happened – it’s really good! He was stunned."
Christine encourages others to sign up and take part:
“Just have a go! You might win! The money goes to such a good cause as well so even if you don’t win, you know you’ve contributed to something that’s really important.”
Congratulations Christine! Enjoy your £10,000 winnings!
Mr & Mrs Stacey were over the moon with their £1,000 win! Having only ever won 3 sacks of spuds in their local bowls club raffle it seems their luck is changing! Someone must have sprinkled some lucky dust over their family as Mr Stacey's mother won the first prize just last year.
They haven't yet decided what to spend their winnings on but plan on treating themselves. Congratulations and enjoy your winnings Mr & Mrs Stacey!
Miss Smith had only been playing the Treetops Lottery for a couple of months when her unique lottery number was drawn for the top prize! Her windfall really couldn't have come at a better time and will go towards making the move into her new family home a little easier.
Miss Naylor was invited to Treetops Hospice Care to collect her winners cheque and to have a tour of the facilities. 1 year old son Ollie accompanied her and enjoyed his tour and slice of cake very much. We wish Miss Naylor and her family the best of luck in their new home!
Congratulations and thank you for your support!
Mr Andersen of Spondon was in disbelief but delighted when he received a phone call from the Treetops Lottery office on Friday 18 December informing him that he was that week's 1st prize winner!
He began to play the Treetops Lottery back in September after one of our canvassers knocked on his door and explained how vital lottery funds are in order to support the hospice.
Mr Andersen's grandchildren spent Christmas at Disney World. His windfall has meant he was able to send them on their trip with some spending money to make their holiday even more magical.

Mrs Dalrymple is one of our very first Treetops Lottery members having joined in September 1996. Having been a member for so long Mrs Dalrymple had occasionally won one of our £5 prizes but never any of our larger prizes.
When Rebecca from the Lottery office called Mrs Dalrymple to inform her that she had won £1,000 in the draw on the 6th May Mrs Dalrymple refused to believe it until we arrived with her cheque. She thought someone was playing a prank! After much disbelief Mrs Darymple and her beautiful dog Amber were delighted to receive their cheque.

Just 6 months later Mrs Sharpe received a cheque from Treetops Lottery as her number had been drawn as one of our £5 weekly winners. She was happy with her £5 win, but was even happier when in April she received a call from the Treetops Lottery to tell her she was that week's 1st prize winner of £1,000! After many squeals and a bit of disbelief we arranged to visit Mrs Sharpe at her home in Mickleover in order to deliver her cheque.

Miss Williamson of Langley Mill has been a member of the Treetops Lottery since 2006. In the last 10 years she has won several of our smaller prizes but on Friday 29 April her lucky lottery number was drawn as our 1st prize, £1000 winner!
Miss Williamson is a great supporter of over 20 charities and is highly involved with her local community. We managed to collar her in between her church coffee morning and WI meeting to present her with her cheque. She is of course delighted and was kind enough to make a donation to Treetops Hospice Care.
Being a charitable man, when Mr Green answered the knock at the door to the Treetops Lottery canvasser he decided that as it was only £1 per week to play he would sign up.
"I’d been looking at the roll-over for weeks and weeks and weeks and it had been going up and up, but I thought, well no-one's going to win that, so it surprised me!” – Mr Green, Chellaston
On Friday 27 May 2016 Mr Green’s lucky lottery number was drawn at random to win the £6,800 roll-over prize in the weekly Treetops Lottery cash prize draw. Mr and Mrs Green were shopping in a local garden centre for plants when they received the phone call to inform them of their win. After news of their windfall had sunk in Mr and Mrs Green decided to spend their winnings on garden improvements, purchasing a large clematis plant from the garden centre the very same day!

Treetops Hospice Care gave Miss Fitch's daughter counselling and emotional support after the death of her grandmother. So when our Treetops Lottery canvasser knocked on Miss Fitch's door she didn't hesitate to become a member of the Treetops Lottery, as it was her way of giving something back to the charity.
She never dreamed she would win, but on the 1 July her lucky number was drawn to win our 1st prize of £1,000! Miss Fitch plans on taking her daughters on holiday this summer with her winnings.
Congratulations and we hope that you enjoy your holiday!

The latest winner is Mrs Finnikin of Ashbourne, who won £400 in last Friday's draw. Mrs Finnikin works as a Nurse in Ashbourne and therefore is aware of the work of Treetops Hospice Care. She has been supporting the charity by playing the lottery since 2011.

Mr Smedley is a firm believer in fate. Having worked full-time for many years he was very rarely available to answer the door if anyone knocked during the day. However, after making the decision to take a career break he happened to be at home the day our canvasser Brian knocked on his door.
He found Brian to be very genuine and passionate about Treetops Hospice Care and so decided to become a Treetops Lottery member. Low and behold only 6 months later Mr Smedley received the call to say he was our 1st prize £1,000 winner.
Our Sales & Promotions Assistant Rebecca went to visit Mr Smedley to deliver his winners cheque and after a chat over tea and cake Mr Smedley is now considering becoming more involved in the charity.
Congratulations Mr Smedley, and thank you for your continued support.

Mr. Spiby of Long Eaton received an unexpected phone call. His lucky lottery number had been drawn to win our 1st prize of £1,000 and we dropped him a call to tell him the good news!
Mr. Spiby has been a long standing supporter of Treetops Hospice Care and began playing the lottery in 2007. He has won a couple of the smaller prizes in the past but never 'the big one'!
It is perfect timing as he is taking his wife for their annual holiday to Ibiza in the near future and his prize winnings will mean extra treats for them whilst they are there.
Congratulations Mr. Spiby and thank you for your continued support.
